Directions and Parking

Getting to Chestnut Hill is also a pleasant experience. Our community is easily accessible by all major roadways in the area:

By Car From Center City Philadelphia
Take I-676/Vine Street Expressway West to I-76West/ Schuylkill Expressway to Exit 340A (Lincoln Drive). Follow Lincoln Drive to dead-end at Allens Lane. Turn right onto Allens Lane and follow to dead-end at Germantown Ave. Turn left onto Germantown Avenue. Follow two lights into Chestnut Hill shopping district.

From PA Turnpike & I-476
Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 333 (Norristown) or I-476 Exit 19 to Germantown Pike East. Stay on Germantown Pike for approx. 5 miles into Chestnut Hill.

From NJ Turnpike
Take N.J. Turnpike to Pennsylvania Turnpike. Exit PA Turnpike at 339 (Ft. Washington). Follow signs for Rte. 309 South. Take 309 South to Paper Mill Road Exit. Turn right at exit ramp. Proceed to the 4th traffic light (Stenton Avenue). Turn left onto Stenton Avenue and then, almost immediately, veer right onto Bethlehem Pike and follow into Chestnut Hill.

From South Jersey
Take the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to 676 West / Schuylkill Expressway and follow directions above from Center City.

Via SEPTA Regional Rail
Use any Center City Rail Station (Market East, Suburban or 30th Street Station to board the SEPTA  Chestnut Hill East  or  Chestnut Hill West train to the last stop on either rail. For the Chestnut Hill East make a left turn out of the station and walk two blocks up Bethlehem Pike to Germantown Avenue. For the Chestnut Hill West line, walk up the steps or the ramp directly onto Germantown Avenue.  Once on Germantown Avenue from either train station, it is a short 2 blocks to the CHCE. The Train service is very regular.

PARKING

Chestnut Hill provides plenty of on-street and lot parking. Along Germantown Avenue and its nearby side streets, there is timed or metered parking. Nine well-maintained and convenient parking lots are also available throughout the shopping district; they are now controlled by parking “kiosks” which accept only quarters, $1 bills or credit cards and the rate is 15 minutes per quarter.

Be mindful of your time as all metered, timed and kiosk parking areas are VERY well patrolled. If you are up to a little walking, there is free on-street parking 2 1/2 blocks away from the CHCE
in all directions.

There are seven neighborhood parking lots:

  • Lot #2 on East Evergreen Avenue (behind Bank of America)
  • Lot #3 on East Evergreen Avenue (behind Wachovia)
  • Lot #4 on East Highland Avenue (behind Hirshorn Co.) CLOSEST  TO  CHCE
  • Lot #5 at 8300 Germantown Avenue (next to PNC Bank)
  • Lot #6 on West Highland Avenue (next to Valley Green Bank)
  • Lot #9 on 8600 Germantown Avenue (behind Citizens Bank)  entrance on Hilltop Road via Rex Avenue
  • Lot #12 on West Evergreen Avenue (at R8 – Chestnut Hill West Station)

These lots are administered by the Chestnut Hill Parking Foundation;  enforcement is the responsibility of the Philadelphia Parking Authority.
